Here we go again! CAAC suspends 9 flights to China

On January 17, the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) announced suspension against the following NINE flights:

  • XiamenAir flight MF820 from Manila to Xiamen
  • China Eastern flight MU2574 from Vientiane to Kunming
  • XiamenAir flight MF812 from Amsterdam to Xiamen
  • China Eastern flight MU208 from Toronto to Shanghai
  • American Airlines flight AA127 from Dallas to Shanghai
  • Aeroflot flight SU208 from Moscow to Shanghai
  • United Airlines flight UA857 from San Francisco to Shanghai
  • Delta Airlines flight DL287 from Seattle to Shanghai
  • SWISS flight LX188 from Zurich to Shanghai

On January 7, 9 passengers on flight MF820, 7 passengers on flight MU2574, 6 passengers on flight AA127, and 5 passengers on flight SU208 tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

As a result:

  • MF820, MU2574, and SU208 were suspended for 2 weeks starting January 24.
  • Wednesday flight of AA127 was suspended for 2 weeks starting February 21.

On January 9, 5 passengers on flight MF812, and 5 passengers on flight MU208 tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Because MU215 (Vancouver to Nanjing) and MU216 (Nanjing to Vancouver) are reward flights of respectively MU207 (Shanghai to Toronto) and MU208, the CAAC decided to cancel the award flights MU215/MU216 and suspend MU208 for 2 weeks starting January 24.

MU812 got suspended for 2 weeks starting January 31.

UA857 had 7 passengers on January 8 and 6 passengers on January 9 that tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

As a result:

  • Friday flight of UA857 was suspended for 2 weeks starting January 31.
  • Saturday flight of UA857 was suspended for 2 weeks starting January 24.

On January 10, 10 passengers on flight LX188 tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

As a result, LX188 was suspended for 4 weeks starting February 7.
