How to Secure an Internship in China After Graduation as a Foreign Student?

Are you a foreign student who has recently graduated from a Chinese university and who is looking to gain work experience via an internship in China? Look no further!

In this comprehensive guide, we will provide you with all the information you need to know about securing an internship in China after graduation.

Foreign students who have graduated from a Chinese university and hold a study residence permit from the Shanghai Exit-Entry Bureau are eligible to apply for an off-campus internship in Shanghai.

The internship must be relevant to the student’s major, unpaid, and less than 180 days long. The student may not hold more than one concurrent off-campus internship. Transportation and meal allowances are permitted.

Foreign graduates (having graduated within two years) are eligible to work in one of Shanghai’s 4 Free Trade Zones:

  • China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone
  • Zhangjiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone
  • Lingang Special Area
  • Hongqiao Central Business District 5 new towns and be employed by any organization included in Shanghai Sci-Tech Innovation Occupation List:
    • Jiading
    • Qingpu
    • Songjiang
    • Fengxian
    • Nanhui
