Shanghai is enhancing its appeal to international travelers with the introduction of upgraded free layover tours.

Starting September 23, 2024, the Shanghai Express service, launched by Trip.com, will include two new stops:

  • Wuzhong Market.
  • Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

This initiative aims to provide a richer cultural experience for passengers with layovers of over eight hours at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

What is Shanghai Express?

Shanghai Express is a complimentary half-day tour service designed for international passengers transiting through Shanghai.

Launched in April 2024, it offers three routes featuring iconic city attractions such as Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, Wukang Road, and a Huangpu River cruise.

The service includes free transportation, attraction tickets, Internet access, and English-speaking tour guides.

New Additions to the Tour

The upgraded service will now include visits to Wuzhong Market, a bustling wet market in the Hengfu Historical Conservation Zone, and the famous Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

Additionally, during the Shanghai Tourism Festival from September 23 to October 6, a special route will take visitors to “The Great Art of Dunhuang” exhibition at the China Art Museum.

How to Join the Tour

  1. Check Your Schedule: Choose a route that fits your layover time and interests.
  2. Meeting Point: Upon arrival at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, head to the Trip.com Group currency exchange counter on Island A in the 3F Departure Hall of Terminal 2 (near Gate 21) for in-person registration.
  3. Begin Your Tour: After registration, you will be picked up by guides at the meeting point and start your hassle-free tour.

Why Choose Shanghai Express?

  • Convenience: The service is entirely free, covering transportation, attraction tickets, and guide services.
  • Cultural Immersion: Experience Shanghai’s rich culture and history through carefully curated routes.
  • Stress-Free Travel: Enjoy a well-organized tour without the hassle of planning and logistics.

Conclusion

Shanghai’s free layover tours offer a unique opportunity for international travelers to explore the city’s vibrant culture and iconic landmarks.

Whether you’re interested in historical sites, bustling markets, or artistic exhibitions, Shanghai Express has something for everyone.

Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to make the most of your layover in Shanghai!
