Apr 29, 2019 (China Knowledge) – Effective from today, both Chinese and foreign visitors, including vehicles, involved in key Belt and Road projects and meetings will be offered fast-track services at 18 border ports. The move to introduce fast-track passport control is to increase support for the initiative, said Qu Yuhai, deputy director of the State Immigration Administration.
With the fast-track passport, users can enjoy rapid customs clearance at 12 airports, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and six land ports, including Inner Mongolia Manzhouli, Erenhot and Horgos.
Another measure, especially for Chinese employees in the Belt and Road initiative, is to offer a green channel to have their visa applications quickly. This will help to cut costs and save time for companies.
The same applies for foreigners visiting China to attend any Belt and Road key projects, events and conferences. Foreigners simply need to offer proof from the Chinese side to have to their visa processed quickly.
It is reported that visa processing time for spouses and children of foreigners will be reduced from 15 working days to five. Maritime crew members will have their visa issued within three days, instead of seven working days.
