Residents in Shanghai who have not had a PCR test since March 16 will have their health code turn yellow starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, according to the local administration.
People with a yellow health code will be unable to access several websites and use a variety of services.
Since March 16, the city conducted statewide PCR tests for COVID-19 infections, although some citizens refused to do them for various reasons, according to the authorities.
Those who have never taken a test are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
Failure to do so by 6 p.m. on Friday will result in a yellow health code, which will become green after 24 hours once the tests are completed, according to the government.
Those with queries regarding the new code rule should contact the city service hotline at 12345 or make a complaint on 随申办 (Suishenban).
