Vietnam e-visa

Applying for a Vietnam e-visa is a straightforward process that allows travelers to obtain their visa online without visiting an embassy or consulate.

This guide will walk you through the steps to apply for a Vietnam e-visa, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

What is a Vietnam E-Visa?

A Vietnam e-visa is an electronic visa issued by the Vietnamese Immigration Department via an online system. It is valid for up to 90 days and can be used for single or multiple entries.

The e-visa allows entry through 42 designated international border gates, including all international airports.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a Vietnam e-visa, you must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible foreign countries.
  • Hold a valid passport with at least six months of validity from the date of entry.
  • Not fall into the cases of suspension from entry as prescribed by article 21 of the Vietnamese law.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Step 1: Visit the Official E-Visa Website

Go to the official Vietnam e-visa website: https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/.

Ensure you select the English language option for easier navigation and click on “e-Visa”

Step 2: Fill Out the Application Form

Click on the “For foreigners” section and fill out the application form with your personal information, including:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number
  • Intended date of entry and exit
  • Purpose of visit

Ensure all information is accurate to avoid delays or rejections.

Step 3: Upload Required Documents

You will need to upload a scanned copy of your passport’s biographical page and a recent passport-sized photo.

The photo should be in color, taken against a white background, and without glasses or headwear (unless for religious reasons).

Step 4: Pay the E-Visa Fee

The e-visa fee is:

  • $25 USD for a single-entry visa。
  • $50 USD for a multiple-entry visa.

Payment can be made via electronic payment gateway using a credit or debit card.

Note that the fee is non-refundable, even if your application is denied.

Step 5: Receive and Print Your E-Visa

After submitting your application and payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a registration code.

Use this code to check the status of your application on the e-visa website.

Processing time is typically 3-5 working days. Once approved, download and print your e-visa approval letter.

Entry and Exit Points

E-visa holders can enter and exit Vietnam through 42 designated international border gates, including:

  • Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi)
  • Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)
  • Da Nang International Airport (Da Nang)
  • Various land and sea border gates.

Important Tips and Reminders

  • Double-check your information: Ensure all details in your application match your passport to avoid issues at immigration.
  • Print multiple copies: Carry at least two printed copies of your e-visa approval letter.
  • Check entry requirements: Some travelers may need additional documents or vaccinations depending on their country of origin.
  • Stay updated: Regulations can change, so always check the latest information on the official e-visa website before you travel.

Conclusion

Applying for a Vietnam e-visa is a convenient and efficient way to obtain your travel authorization.

By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can ensure a smooth application process and enjoy your trip to Vietnam without any visa-related hassles.
