Sāmoa and China Sign Visa-Free Travel Deal

China Samoa Visa Exemption Agreement

Sāmoa and China have entered a historic visa-free travel agreement, allowing citizens of both nations to visit each other for up to 30 days without a visa.

Signed during the Spring Festival event in Apia, this deal celebrates 50 years of diplomatic relations and aims to boost tourism, education, and cultural exchange.

Prime Minister Fiamē Naomi Mata’afa and Chinese Ambassador Fei Mingxing emphasized the agreement’s importance, which builds on discussions from Fiamē’s 2024 visit to China.

Beyond travel, China has pledged to send medical teams, provide scholarships, and support Chinese language education in Sāmoa.

This agreement aligns Sāmoa with other Pacific nations like Fiji, Tonga, and the Solomon Islands, which also have visa-free arrangements with China.

The visa-free deal is expected to boost tourism and strengthen bilateral ties.
