Flights to China from Ethiopia: Ethiopian Airlines will resume pre-COVID-19 levels of service

Ethiopian Airlines, the country’s main airline, announced on Tuesday that in the upcoming months, it will resume pre-COVID-19 levels of service of flights to China from Ethiopia.

Following the lifting of restrictions by the Chinese government on March 1, 2023, Ethiopian Airlines, the largest airline in Africa, is pleased to announce that it will increase the frequency of its flights to Chinese cities starting on February 6, 2023, eventually returning to the pre-COVID-19 levels.

As of February 6, Ethiopian Airlines will run daily flights to Chengdu, the capital of southwest China’s Sichuan Province. It will also increase its weekly flights to Beijing and Shanghai to four each and maintain its three-times-weekly services to Chengdu.

The airlines announced that beginning March 1, daily flights to Beijing and Shanghai, as well as ten and four weekly flights to Guangzhou and Chengdu, respectively, will bring the number of flights back to pre-COVID-19 levels.

When the services are fully restored, Ethiopian Airlines will run a total of 28 passenger flights each week to China, the carrier said.
