IKEA China fined 210,000 yuan for selling shoddy bedding

The market regulator in Shanghai penalized IKEA China more than 210,000 yuan ($32,845) for selling defective bedding products, according to China Central Television (CCTV), citing a statement posted on the agency’s website. According to the notification, the Swedish furniture giant was penalized for insufficient colorfastness of bedding products, with all 1,456 products sold out. The defective quilt coverings and pillowslips were imported by IKEA China in January 2020, and they went on sale in March 2020.
