This announcement was declared by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau on Monday.

In a strategic endeavor to offer heightened convenience to its inhabitants, the districts of Huangpu, Xuhui, Jing’an, Changning, and Minhang are set to introduce this service, commencing from the start of the coming year, as disclosed by the bureau.

Anticipations indicate that additional districts will adopt a similar approach in the foreseeable future.

Foreign nationals embarking on marital registration in Shanghai will be required to present their passports, identification photographs, and certifications issued by the embassies or consulates of their respective home countries, affirming their single status.

Permanent residents within Pudong now possess the opportunity to schedule appointments for matrimonial registration within the district, using mobile applications such as Suishenban or Alipay, commencing from Tuesday October 3.
