If you’re a Tunisian citizen living in China and need to apply for a passport—whether it’s your first time, a renewal, or a replacement for a lost or damaged passport
This guide will walk you through the process with the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing.

Checklist of Required Documents
- Passport Application Form: Complete the form in both Arabic and French. Ensure your Chinese address is written in English. Download the form here.
- Copy of National ID Card: For adults, provide a photocopy of both the front and back sides on A4 paper.
- Birth Certificate: Required for minors.
- Identity Photos: Submit four photos that meet the Tunisian passport photo requirements.
- Consular Card Copy: If you don’t have one, learn how to apply here.
- Residence Permit: Provide a copy of your valid residence permit or permanent residence ID card.
- Employment Certificate: For those working in China.
- Enrollment Letter: For students, a letter from your educational institution is required.
- Parental Authorization: For minors, signed by both parents.
- Old Passport: Required for renewals.
- Photocopy of Current Passport: A color photocopy of all 32 pages.
- Return Request Form: A form addressed to the Minister of the Interior to request the return of your old passport.
- Certificate of Loss or Damaged Passport: If applying for a duplicate, provide a police declaration or the damaged passport.
Important Notes
- For Parents Applying on Behalf of Minors: Sign next to the signature box, not inside it.
- Occupation Changes: If your occupation has changed (e.g., from student to employed), you can still apply for a renewal. However, you must update your national ID card when you return to Tunisia. Learn how to update your ID card here (Arabic).
- Letter of Verification: Upon receiving your new passport, the embassy will provide a letter confirming that both the old and new passports belong to the same individual.

Application Submission
If you are not in Beijing, you can mail your application to the Tunisian Embassy. Ensure all documents are complete and properly packaged. Find the embassy’s mailing address here.

Notes:
- If you are applying for a passport on behalf of your kid, please add your signature right next to the signature box. Do NOT sign inside the signature box.
- If your occupation changed from a student (at the time of getting your ID card) to work, then you can still submit your passport renewal application, but you will need to update your national ID card when you travel to Tunisia). The procedure for updating the data on your national ID card is available here (in Arabic).
When you receive your new passport, you should also receive the following letter from the embassy to show that both the old and the new passport belong to the same person:
